 Viel Zeit hatten wir heute nachmittag nicht und zwei kleine Kinder möchten nicht unbedingt stundenlang durch die City laufen, aber auf die Aussichtsplattform Skydeck 88 des Hochhauses Eureka sind wir hochgefahren. Das war auch für die Kinder ein Abenteuer.

Die Besonderheit an der Etage ist der sogenannte Glaskasten "The Edge", in dem ein paar Besucher aus dem Gebäude herausgefahren werden und sozusagen in der Höhe schweben. Ich habe mir dieses Erlebnis nicht angetan.

In den Docklands sind moderne Büro- und Wohnlandschaften entstanden, sie beherbergen viele Dinks (double income no kids) oder hoch bezahlte Singles. Meine Cousine arbeitet dort bei einer namhaften Bank und sehnt sich nach den alten Zeiten mitten im Herzen der Stadt.

We did not have much time this afternoon and it's not really amusing to drag two little kids through the city but we did go up to the visitor's platform Skydeck 88 of the scyscraper Eureka. The kids thought it was a big adventure.

What is so special about the platform is the so called "The Edge", a glass cube in which a couple of visitors are being slid out of the building and can experience the feeling of floating high above in the air. I was not too keen on experiencing such a feeling.

Many modern office and residential houses have grown in the Docklands, they are home of many Dinks (double income no kids) or highly paid singles. My cousin now works at a well-known bank in this area and regrets not being able to work in the heart of the city any longer.
