Ich kann nicht aufhören / I Can Hardly Stop

... zu lesen. Das Buch heißt auf Deutsch "Das perfekte Opfer" von Gillian Flynn. Erzählt wird die Geschichte vom Ehepaar Amy und Nick, und zwar abwechselnd aus seiner und ihrer Sicht. 

Zur Handlung sei so viel gesagt: Amy verschwindet an ihrem 5. Hochzeitstag spurlos und schnell gerät Nick unter Verdacht. Ich habe bisher ca. 1/3 des Buches gelesen und bin hochgradig fasziniert vom Psychogramm dieses Ehepaars. Ich verschlinge jedes Kapitel, an dessen Ende sich immer eine neue Wendung abzeichnet. Spannend!

... reading. The book is "Gone Girl" by Gillian Flynn. It tells the story of the couple Amy and Nick, they take turns in writing their view of the story. 

I can say that much to the plot: On her 5th wedding day, Amy disappears without a trace and Nick is quickly being suspected. So far I have read approx. 1/3 of the book and I'm totally fascinated by the psychological description of the couple. The story always takes a new turn at the end of each chapter and I keep reading frantically. Thrilling!

Mittlerweile bin ich bei der Hälfte des Buches angelangt und zwinge mich aufzuhören. Sonst gibt's heute kein Essen und nichts.

In the meantime I've read half of the book and force myself to stop, otherwise there'll be no food or anything else today. 

Seit einigen Tagen fühle ich mich krank und gehe abends ganz früh ins Bett. Ich lese ein neues Buch von Wally Lamb: The Hour I First Believed und obwohl ich erst bei Seite 60 bin, gefällt es mir sehr gut. Habe von Lamb auch schon She's Come Undone und I Know This Much Is True gelesen und fand beide Bücher fesselnd und klasse.

I've been feeling ill for a couple of days now and go to bed early. The new book I'm currently reading is by Wally Lamb: The Hour I First Believed and although I'm only at page 60 now I'm really impressed. I've also read his previous books She's Come Undone and I Know This Much Is True and loved them both.

Zeiten des Aufruhrs / Revolutionary Road

Diesen Film habe ich heute Abend gesehen und er wird mich sicherlich noch eine zeitlang beschäftigen. Herausragende Leistungen von di Caprio und Winslet. Ich freue mich auf das Buch von Richard Yates.
Übrigens ist diese Woche John Updike verstorben, einer meiner Lieblingsschriftsteller. Seltsamerweise ist das einzige Buch, welches ich von ihm noch nicht gelesen habe "Die Hexen von Eastwick". Werde ich jetzt nachholen und danach sofort "Die Witwen von Eastwick" lesen.

This is the film I saw tonight and I know it's going to occupy my mind for some time. Excellent performance by di Caprio and Winslet. I'm looking forward to reading the book by Richard Yates.
John Updike died this week, one of my favourite authors. Funny that the only book I haven't yet read is "The Witches of Eastwick". I'll do that soon and will then carry on with "The Widows of Eastwick".

Meine Freundin hatte diese Woche Geburtstag und wir haben gestern zusammen eine Tasse Tee getrunken und geplaudert. Ansonsten ist diese Woche sehr ruhig (liegt bestimmt am Schnee). Ich lese " Buddenbrooks, Verfall einer Familie".

It was my friend's birthday this week and yesterday we met for a cup of tea and a chat. Besides that this week is really quiet (must be because of all the snow). I'm reading "Buddenbrooks, Decline of a Family".
