Domicil

So heißt die Bar, der Club (wir sagten früher Disco), der Veranstaltungsort für Parties, Konzerte und mehr. Gestern war dort ein Konzert der Soulgruppe Komm Mit Manns, die eigene Songs spielen und zum Beispiel Joe Cocker oder James Brown covern (und noch viele mehr). 

Wir haben die Band schon einmal vor mehreren Jahren im Solendo am Hafen gesehen, aber was da gestern abging, war unglaublich. Der ganze Abend war eine rauschende Party. 

Die Komm Mit Manns bestehen aus fünf Musikern, einem Leadsänger und drei Ladies, die es mit jeder Soulsängerin auf Erden aufnehmen können. So viel geballte Soulpower auf einer Bühne gibt es selten. 

Nach so einem Konzert lasse ich es meistens ruhiger angehen, jedoch war in dem kleineren Raum nebenan anschließend noch Soul Trippin' - sprich Disco. Dort ging soultechnisch die Post ab und ich habe die Tanzfläche nicht mehr verlassen (was mir meine Knie heute nicht verzeihen mögen). Das letzte Mal, dass ich so eine gute Soulnacht erlebt habe, war vor vielen vielen Jahren in einem schwarzen Club in Düsseldorf.

That's the name of the bar, the club (we used to say discotheque in former times) and event location for parties, concerts and more. Yesterday, there was a concert with the Komm Mit Manns who play own songs and cover songs by for example Joe Cocker and James Brown (and many others). 

We've seen this group a couple of years before, in the Solendo bar in the canal and container port area of Dortmund, but I can't remember having had such a great soul party as we had last night. It was truly memorable. 

The Komm Mit Manns consist of 5 musicians, a male lead singer and three ladies, who are better than any other soul singer I have heard so far. There is rarely so much  soul power on stage. 

Usually, I am taking it easy after such a concert but there was a discotheque called Soul Trippin' in the bar next door and I never left the dance floor (my knees make sure I won't forget that). The last time I've had such a great time with soul music was in a black soul club in Düsseldorf, many many years ago.

Wollmeise

Ich habe meine erste Wollmeise-Wolle. Fühlt sich schön an.

Ich ziehe um! / I'm moving!

Endlich ist es soweit, heute wurden die Möbel aufgebaut und dann haben mein neuer Kollege und ich alles geputzt und zum Teil schon viele Akten einsortiert. Morgen früh werden unsere Telefone und die PCs neu angeschlossen. Ich freue mich sehr, denn zu dritt oder zu viert war es im alten Büro sehr eng und laut.

Finally, our new office furniture was assembled today and then my new colleague and I cleaned everything and moved most of our files. Tomorrow morning, our telephones and computers will be installed. I'm really looking forward to moving, as the old office with three or even four people was to small and loud. 

Westfalenstadion

Unser Freund ist heute in den Urlaub geflogen und ich kam in den Genuss der BVB Karte. Über das Spiel sag ich mal nichts, Hauptsache gewonnen.

In der Kirche / In the Church

... war gestern ein Konzert von Tony Liotta's Groove Attack featuring Michael Kratz, gespielt wurden hauptsächlich Lieder von Bryan Adams und Michaels eigene Songs. 

Die Akustik war richtig gut und laut, die Stimmung etwas weniger, was eventuell daran lag, dass wir in den Kirchenbänken saßen?

An der Gitarre glänzte Robert Kader (ich verstand immer Robert Palmer). 

Ein schöner Abend in der Kirche.

... there was a concert last night: Tony Liotta's Groove Attack featuring Michael Kratz. They covered songs by Bryan Adams and played some of Michael's songs too. 

Acoustic was very good and loud, maybe the people were a little more well behaved because of sitting in the church? 

Robert Kader was fantastic with his guitar (I always understood Robert Palmer). 

A nice evening in the church. 

Hochzeitspaar / Wedding Couple

Dortmund ZOO & Rombergpark

Heute waren wir drei Stunden draußen, im wunderschönen Rombergpark und nach langen Jahren mal wieder im Zoo. Es gab so viel Neues zu entdecken. Nächstes Jahr müssen wir die Enkel mitnehmen.

We were outside for three hours today, in the beautiful Rombergpark and Zoo, where we had not been for the longest time. There were so many new things to see. We'll have to take the grandchildren next year.

Ich kann nicht aufhören / I Can Hardly Stop

... zu lesen. Das Buch heißt auf Deutsch "Das perfekte Opfer" von Gillian Flynn. Erzählt wird die Geschichte vom Ehepaar Amy und Nick, und zwar abwechselnd aus seiner und ihrer Sicht. 

Zur Handlung sei so viel gesagt: Amy verschwindet an ihrem 5. Hochzeitstag spurlos und schnell gerät Nick unter Verdacht. Ich habe bisher ca. 1/3 des Buches gelesen und bin hochgradig fasziniert vom Psychogramm dieses Ehepaars. Ich verschlinge jedes Kapitel, an dessen Ende sich immer eine neue Wendung abzeichnet. Spannend!

... reading. The book is "Gone Girl" by Gillian Flynn. It tells the story of the couple Amy and Nick, they take turns in writing their view of the story. 

I can say that much to the plot: On her 5th wedding day, Amy disappears without a trace and Nick is quickly being suspected. So far I have read approx. 1/3 of the book and I'm totally fascinated by the psychological description of the couple. The story always takes a new turn at the end of each chapter and I keep reading frantically. Thrilling!

Mittlerweile bin ich bei der Hälfte des Buches angelangt und zwinge mich aufzuhören. Sonst gibt's heute kein Essen und nichts.

Backtag / Baking Day

Beim Einkaufen habe ich spontan beschlossen, einen Heidelbeerkuchen zu backen. Die Zutaten hatte ich halbwegs im Kopf, statt Mascarpone gab es aber Schmand. Es wurde köstlich.

When I went food shopping today, I spontaneously decided to bake a blueberry pie. I had almost all ingredients in my head but bought sour cream instead of mascarpone. It came out delicious. 

Heute Abend gab es Flammkuchen mit Federweißer. So lecker!

This evening we had Alsatian (onion) tart with Federweißer (fermenting wine). So delicious!

Der ältere Enkel ist übrigens im August schon zwei Jahre alt geworden. Leider konnte ich bei der Feier nicht dabei sein, da ich mich zu der Zeit in Australien befunden habe. Er bekommt eine gute Erziehung:

Party Season

Die kirchliche Trauung meiner Tochter war sehr schön und die darauffolgende Party lang und unterhaltsam.

My daughter's church wedding ceremony was very nice and the following party long and entertaining. 

Und dann war da noch das CL spiel gegen Olympique Marseille, zu dem ich kurzfristig eine Karte kaufen konnte. Den Abend widmete ich meinem verstorbenen Onkel Henry (seinem Geburtstag) und BVB beglückte uns mit einem souveränen 3:0 Sieg.

Then there was the CL match vs. Olympique Marseille. I was lucky to get a ticket shortly before and the evening was dedicated to my departed uncle Henry (his birthday). BVB made us happy with a confident 3:0 victory. 

Jetzt steht uns ein langes Wochenende bevor und die Feier des 1. Geburtstags unseres zweiten Enkels.
