I've been working in the export department of a medium-sized and family owned company for more than 14 years and in 1998 I went to an exhibition in Düsseldorf for a week and for the first time. Ever since these visits at various fairs / exhibitions are obligatory and I have been on quite a few business trips in the last years and more intensively for a little more than one year.

And of course we have had countless visitors in our company and we have met most of our business contacts personally.
.
In the course of the past years even friendships or at least acquaintances resulted from these contacts. I have two lovely ex-colleagues in China with whom I exchange e-mails (or who read my blog :-), a business partner in my home country whom I visit on a private basis from time to time or who had been invited to our home, or for example this American customer who came to visit our company during his private stay with his family in England, together with his wife.

I had been looking forward to this visit because I like this business partner a lot and we exchange e-mails from office to office and distract each other from our everyday (business) problems. It was a great honour for me to be able to meet his wife and it was quite obvious that we not only welcomed and entertained this couple in our company but spent some time with them today until it was time for them to catch their plane back to England.
We have spent part of the day in Cologne and were fortunate enough to have summery weather. It's the third time in a row that I have come back home very late but I do not want to miss these days or occasions. They are an enrichment.

Letzte Woche / Last week

***
... consisted more or less of work and even more work. I was a little worried when my daughter left the hospital on Monday already and found herself in a completeley new life. Without us, in her own flat, with a child, with a boyfriend.

Fortunately, she lives very close to the hospital and knows that she can drop by at any time with the baby and ask for assistance. It is even more fortunate that the little boy is extremely peaceful and cries only in case of hunger, a minor tummy cramp or with a full nappy.

Most of the time he looks like this:

What else kept me busy:

- the draw of the Champions League matches - wow, I'm already looking forward to that
- the match Leverkusen vs. BVB - which I could not watch completely, unfortunately
- knitting
- cooking and baking
- daughter and baby
- Guano Apes
- my iPad

The Guano Apes concert was at the lake Kemnade during the Ruhr 2011 festival and a great success for us. Sandra Nasic's voice is expressively strong and even though the acoustics were not hundert percent, her voice was stunning.

A very cordial reunion had been celebrated as well: after a minimum of 15 years the sister of my ex husband and I met again yesterday. She is now in her early thirties and has a six year old son. We were both very happy to see each other.

Mein Tag in Bildern / My day in pictures

Not much else to say, is there?

Ohne Kind, ohne Enkel :-)

My daughter will leave the hospital tomorrow and return home (meaning her own home) und I'm back to normal again, going back to work. It's such a good feeling not having to bear the whole responsibility. I happily clean the little bum and know that I don't have to think of nappies all the time. I lay him in my daughter's arms when he's hungry. I enjoy all the privileges of the grandmother status.

In addition to that, fortunately my man makes sure that we enjoy our now childless life: we are going to a Guano Apes concert next Saturday. Without a child, without a grandchild :-)

Das Enkelkind ist da / The grandchild has arrived

Come and play with us!

***

We attract the child. By all means. And en passant Lore is improving her skills as a model.

Warten und stricken / Waiting and knitting

***

At the moment wir are waiting impatiently without excitement and I divert myself with knitting. This is going to be a tiny  pullover for my grandchild. Once he has arrived. Last week I took my daughter to hospital again because she had been in pain for several days. All three delivery rooms were full and after having heard all the sounds from a child being born we were ready to run away.

Kreatives Wochenende / Creative weekend

Unser Wochenende in Bildern (und etwas Text). / Our weekend in pictures (and a little text).

hier noch ein normales Regal / looks like a regular shelf

tadaaaaaa!

DIY Schreibtisch / DIY desk
Cool!

***

When we moved out the desk from our little study / library we kept discussing the possibilities of a new (smaller) computer desk. After one week without desk my clever man thought of this. Cool!

neue Mütze für mein Enkelkind / new hat for my grandchild

kein kleines Köpfchen im Haus, also muß Bruno modeln / no tiny head in our home, hence Bruno as a model

und hier ist Lore / and this is Lore

Lore in ihrem Heim / Lore in her home

I think I've already mentioned Lore, she's my daughter's first doll, a birthday present for her 1st birthday from our cleaning lady.

Fußball, Stricken und Dede / Football, knitting and Dede

Was haben diese drei Worte gemeinsam?

***
What do these three words have in common?

1. My daughter and I have watched the football game BVB vs. HSV last night (I'd love to write a detailed report about this game but others are more talented and I therefore stick to a couple of words only: terrific football).

2. While watching the game I finished knitting my daughter's shawl from Tausendschön's August edition - see pics.

3. Mr. Bean is now named Dede. Simply because he is such a wonderful football player and a personality who's being missed here in Dortmund.

Warten / Waiting

***

We are waiting for the baby / grandchild. I had to take my daughter to hospital last night as she had painful contractions. Everything is OK and the boy is taking his time.

Please, my dear boy, not this evening, we are just about to watch BVB vs. HSV.
