Geburstagsvorbereitungen / Birthday Preparations

Meine Tochter wurde gestern morgen aus dem Krankenhaus entlassen und es geht ihr gut. Morgen wird sie 17 Jahre jung. Das ist natürlich ein besonderer Tag für uns beide: sie feiert ihren Geburtstag mit uns, ihren Freunden und wird beschenkt und ich denke zurück an diesen einen Tag im November, an dem ich um ca. 17.30 Uhr dachte, ich hätte Magenprobleme.

Diese Magenprobleme wuchsen langsam aber stetig zu einem größeren "Problem" heran und um ca. 19.30 Uhr sind wir ins Krankenhaus gefahren. Um 22.43 Uhr wurde meine Tochter geboren und ich habe eine schlaflose Nacht verbracht und über dieses unfaßbare Wunder nachgedacht.

Damals schliefen die Babys noch getrennt von den Müttern und ich bin ein paar Mal zum Babyraum gegangen um zu sehen, wann sie denn endlich wieder wach wird. Ein paar Nächte später war ich dann froh, wenn sie ein paar Stunden schlief ...

Es ist auch schön, dass sie genau an dem Tag geboren wurde, für den der Geburtstermin errechnet wurde: 11.11.1992.

My daughter has left the hospital yesterday morning and she's doing well. It will be her 17th birthday tomorrow. That's a special day for both of us: she celebrates her birthday with us, her friends and receives many presents and I will be thinking back to this one day in November when I thought that I'd had stomach problems at about 5.30 pm.

These stomach problems grew more and more into a bigger "problem" and we left for the hospital at about 7.30 pm. My daughter was born at 10.43 pm and I spent a sleepless night thinking about this inconceivable wonder. In those days the babies still slept in a separate room away from their mothers and I went to this room a couple of times during the night and wondered if she'd ever wake up again. A couple of nights later I was happy that she'd managed to sleep for a couple of hours...

It's also nice that she was born on exactly that date that had been calculated as the date of her birth: 11.11.1992.
