Mein Fußballzimmer in Katowice, PL / My football room in Katowice, PL

Ich war gestern und heute geschäftlich in Katowice in Polen. Kein Grund zum Jubeln dachte ich, denn leider hatte ich Katowice in sehr schlechter Erinnerung - um niemanden zu beleidigen, stelle ich das mal mit Ostrava (in meiner Heimat Tschechien) auf ein Level. Beides Städte, die noch vor 10 bis 15 Jahren extrem häßlich und schmutzig waren.

Diesmal habe ich vom Zentrum nicht viel gesehen, aber das Hotel, in dem wir übernachtet haben, war eine gelungene und sehr schöne Überraschung. Erst im März diesen Jahres eröffnet und mit 4 Sternen versehen, bot es alles, was Dienstreisen um so vieles komfortabler macht: einen kostenlosen Fitnessclub, eine Sauna, kostenlosen Internetzugang (längst nicht eine Selbstverständlichkeit - so mußte ich z.B. in Australien AUD 30 für 24 Stunden bezahlen - neben einer saftigen Hotelrechnung) und last but not least eine sehr schöne Bar und ein noch viel schöneres Restaurant, in dem wir abends hervorragend gegessen haben.

Der Hit war aber das Zimmer. Komplett in gelb-schwarz eingerichtet und einfach nur schön.

I have been on a business trip to Katowice in Poland yesterday and today. There was no reason to shout with joy I thought because unfortunately I have rather bad memories of Katowice - and because I don't want to offend anybody I'd like to mention that in my opinion it is on the same level as the town Ostrava (in my home country Czech Republic). Both towns used to be quite ugly and dirty still about 10 to 15 years ago.


I have not seen much of the town centre this time but the hotel where we stayed was a great success. It was opened in March this year and has 4 stars and offers everything that makes a business trip so much more comfortable: a free fitness club, a sauna, free internet (not a matter of course in other countries - I had to pay AUD 30 for 24 hours in Australia for example - in addition to an already high room rent) and last but not least a nice bar and an even nicer restaurant where we enjoyed a great meal last night.


But the biggest surprise was my room. Completely designed in black and yellow and simply beautiful.
