Der Flug nach Australien war auf dem Hinweg ca. 21 Stunden lang (mit Zwischenstop in Singapur), auf dem Rückweg fast 23 Stunden. Was macht man bloß während dieser Zeit? Na gut, ca. ein Drittel der Zeit vergeht mit Essen & Trinken, dann etwas Schlaf (Dank an die Business Class und Qantas!) und den Rest vertreibt man sich mit Filmen & Musik und in meinem Fall noch mit ... Stricken!
Diese Beinwärmer sind das Ergebnis der langen Flüge und waren eigentlich für den Geburtstag meiner Tochter gedacht (November). Mir war aber schon vorher klar, dass ich so lange nicht warten könnte und ich übergab ihr dieses Geschenk schon heute. Die Freude war riesig!
(Interessant sind auch die Reaktionen der Flugbegleiter: die weiblichen bleiben stehen, fassen die Wolle an und sind begeistert. Die männlichen machen nette Scherze und einer gab sofort eine Mütze in Auftrag.
Ich bin auch sehr erstaunt, dass ich an allen Flughäfen dieser Welt bisher mit den Stricknadeln durch alle Sicherheitskontrollen gekommen bin!)
The flight to Australia takes about 21 hours (via Singapore) and back nearly 23 hours. That's a long time and I'd been wondering what to do. Well, approx. ein third of the time is spent with eating & drinking, some sleep (thanks to business class and Qantas!) and the remaining time is spent with films & music and in my case with ... knitting!
The result of the long flights are these legwarmers which had previously been intended for my daughter's birthday in November. I'd already guessed that I could not wait that long and have given her this present today. What a joy!
(The reactions of the flight attendants are quite amusing: the female ones come to me, touch the wool and are generally excited. The male ones make funny remarks and one of them instantly ordered a hat.
I'm also very astonished at the fact that I could take my knitting needles through all the safety checks of all different airports without any kind of problems!)

Wlcice, even tiny little nail scissors will be thrown away immediately. Well, as long as I can attack anyone with my knitting needles I'll be fine ... :-))
