Phoenix-See und Phoenix-West / Lake Phoenix and industrial area Phoenix West

Letztes Jahr haben wir uns neue Fahrräder gekauft. Meins steht zum großen Teil unbenutzt im Keller, weil ich die umliegenden Berge einfach zu anstrengend finde. Als ich noch in Schwerte wohnte, habe ich fast alle Kurzstrecken mit dem Rad zurückgelegt und wir haben schon damals schöne Touren an der Ruhr entlang gemacht.

Heute allerdings bin ich mit DH in Richtung Dortmund gefahren und wir haben uns die Großbaustelle Phoenix-See und das Industriegebiet Phoenix-West angesehen. Zum Teil hatte ich schon hier darüber berichtet, damals schauten wir uns alles von oben an (Florianturm).

Wir waren völlig überrascht, wie groß die Baustelle für den See tatsächlich ist und wie das in nächster Zukunft aussehen soll. Unglaublich, daß hier noch vor wenigen Jahren ein ganzes Stahlwerk gestanden hat und Tausenden von Menschen Arbeit gab.

We bought our new bikes last year but mine has been standing more or less unused in the cellar because the hills that we are surrounded with are too much for me. I used to go everywhere by bike in those days when I lived in Schwerte and we made some nice tours along the river Ruhr.

Today however, DH and I took the bikes and went to have a look at the big building site of the lake Phoenix and the industrial area Phoenix West. I have already blogged about this in here, we'd been looking from above then (tower Florian).

We were totally surprised to see how big the building site of the lake is and how it's going to look like in the near future. Hard to believe that there was a complete steel work only a couple of years ago which employed thousands of people.
