Heute war ich mit meinen Eltern Rad fahren, am Dortmund-Ems Kanal entlang bis zum Schiffshebewerk Henrichenburg und dann über Land zurück (ca. 40 km). Es war ein glücklicher und entspannter Tag.

Und was bedeuten die gelben Luftballons? Das sind sogenannte Schachtzeichen, im Rahmen des Kulturhauptstadt-Jahres 2010 entstanden: 311 im ganzen Ruhrgebiet. Sie markieren all die Stellen, wo früher eine Zeche war. Unglaublich, welche Orte ich schon in Dortmund gesichtet habe, wo diese Luftballons sind.

Today, my parents and I went on a bike tour along the Dortmund-Ems canal to the boat lift Henrichenburg and back home (approx. 40 km). It was a happy and relaxed day.

And what are those yellow balloons? They are the so called coal-mine signs, put up especially within all the cultural events in the Ruhr 2010 year. They mark all the places of former coal-mine sites. Unbelievable how many places I've seen in Dortmund marked with the balloon.
