Heute war ein ruhiger und schöner Gammeltag. Nach dem Sport heute morgen kam mein Bruder zum Frühstück, danach haben wir Karten gespielt und nachmittags habe ich zwei Pizzas gebacken, um meinen "Kindern" eine Freude zu machen. Nach den vielen gesunden Tagen mit Gemüse wünschten sie sich was "Richtiges".

Today was a quiet and relaxing day. My brother came around for breakfast after sports this morning, we played cards and this afternoon I made two pizzas in order to please my "kids". After so many healthy days with lots of veggies they wanted to eat a "square meal". (I found the expression "square meal" in my online dictionary and hope it's correct.)
LOL at my link to the German word "ordentlich" which of course also means tidy.
Correct. Basically you'll feel better after you've had a square meal.
